1855 Mrs. Mary A. HOLLIDAY JOHNSON Plea (Native Americans)
Detroit Mich. Sept. 2, 1855
Mr. Mix excuse the liberty I take in writing to you. I feel very anxious to know whether you would oblige a lonely widow as I am and I wrote to Mr. McClelland for I did not know who to write to and un? the letter, you said that you could not find my name as a descendant of the Holliday family but I am. My father William Holliday is John Hollidays son, and my mother was half breed and I cannot see why I should not be entitled to same thing. Dear Sir you will oblige me very much indeed by telling me what I must do to find out whether I can get any thing or not. I am all alone I have been wronged out of what I ? to have had years ago but I hope you will give me some advice and you shall have the thanks and prayers of a poor lonely widow.
Respectfully Yours,
Mrs. Mary A. Johnson
Please direct in care Mr. Montgomery

Steamer Planet
Letter precedes this on the film that is extremely hard to read in part addressing the same subject but is longer and has more names in it. Back bleed throughout.
